Best Hangover Preventative Measures
I don't always drink but when I do, I make sure I enjoy it.
These work for me ...
* I don't drink super high-brow stuff (obviously), but I never go below PBR (beer), Jim Beam (grains) level.
* Take a multivitamin that also has B-1 and Zinc
* Sip a good electrolyte drink (1 liter at least)
* Get 8-10 hours of sleep (or 2 more hours than you normally do) <- this is key but not usually attainable if you're out pouring it on, on a work night
Anyone have any other tips?

Quitting drinking worked for me. I couldn't imagine how much it would hurt these days.
Re: Best Hangover Preventative Measures
I stopped drinking at the end of last year and it's been amazing.
Having said that, I always used this method:
The night of:
- Between each drink, drink a water.
- Avoid brown alcohols
- After drinking, chug an LMNT or similar electrolyte mix.
- Before bed, pop a couple anti-inflammatory pain pills (advil, etc.)
Next morning:
- Upon waking, repeat electrolytes and anti-inflammatory
- Take a cold plunge in an ice bath or long cold shower.
- Caffeinate
- Workout
[/list]

Re: Best Hangover Preventative Measures
If I may ask, what made you guys decide to give up drinking?
Re: Best Hangover Preventative Measures
Mostly for health reasons; mental and physical. My parents and grandparents have both had bouts with cancer. Alcohol is known to be highly carcinogenic, so it just seems like a gamble I'm not willing to take anymore. I also realized many (almost all) of the stupid shit I've done in my life has happened under the influence. I did dry January and after making it a month I realized I could probably just keep going, as it wasn't as difficult as I imagined it would be. I'm 55 days in and haven't felt this great since I was a child.

Consequences. Drinking led to other things which led to lots and lots of problems.theballguy wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 9:00 pm If I may ask, what made you guys decide to give up drinking?

Makes sense man. If it seems to hurt your health more than not, it's probably a good to not do it. Everybody's different I think. I've done some crazy stuff but probably half of them were pretty fun. I did quit a few years back for almost 3 years but one day I missed it and just had a couple of beers at a Mexican restaurant. I still enjoy it but I probably don't drink as much as most who drink super heavy. I generally don't drink more than 5-6 drinks at a time and probably only do it once or twice a week. I guess I'm more of a binger maybe. Not sure what I'm classified as.CISO wrote: ↑Sun Feb 25, 2024 9:56 pm Mostly for health reasons; mental and physical. To be fair, I needed a lot of external encouragement, but eventually it got through my thick skull.
