The injunction was granted in the Eastern Tennessee District by Judge Clifton Corker, who found that NIL rules caused irreparable damage to athletes.

The states argued that NIL rules must be suspended immediately because recruits are losing leverage without the ability to negotiate their fair market value in the NIL space and that UT's reputation is stained by the NCAA's unfair investigation focused on NIL rules enforcement.

"For the reasons provided herein, Plaintiffs' Motion for Preliminary Injunction is granted," the decision said. "It is hereby ordered that, effective immediately, Defendant NCAA; its servants, agents, and employees; and all persons in active conce11 or participation with the NCAA, are restrained and enjoined from enforcing the NCAA Interim NIL Policy, the NCAA Bylaws, or any other authority to the extent such authority prohibits student-athletes from negotiating compensation for NIL with any third-party entity, including but not limited to boosters or a collective of boosters, until a full and final decision on the merits in the instant action.

"It is further ordered that, effective immediately, the NCAA is restrained and enjoined from enforcing the Rule of Restitution as applied to the foregoing NIL activities until a full and final decision on the merits in the instant action."
NIL is now a free for all.

It's no longer college football. We're watching something else entirely.

You have videos of recruits buying their mama new houses.

Anyone who thinks it is anything other than professional sports, is living in an alternative reality.

Nico signed an $8 million deal with us before ever wearing an Orange & Wite jersey. Not sure how that ever be construed as amateur athletics.

If this is true and I wouldn't be surprised if it was, are there any rooks in the NFL getting paid at this clip?

It's true.
Tennessee quarterback Nico Iamaleava continues to grab headlines through the use of his NIL.

When he committed in March 2022, Iamaleava – the top Class of 2023 recruit in the country, according to On3 – made national news not only for his pledge but also because of his NIL opportunities. As The Athletic has since reported, Iamaleava reportedly signed a deal with Spyre Sports Group in which he could make $8 million over three years.

Iamaleava eventually announced an NIL deal with The Volunteer Club in late January. The NIL collective that’s run by Spyre Sports Group supports Tennessee student-athletes through a monthly membership program. As part of his deal with the club, Iamaleava will make appearances at a number of events and promote the organization on social media.

Friday, Iamaleava announced on social media that he partnered with Force Factor – a health and wellness supplement company – in an NIL deal that Spyre facilitated. It’s his first nationwide NIL agreement since enrolling at Tennessee, and it’ll put Iamaleava in front of the company’s hundreds of thousands of followers on social media.

I think the only reason Tennessee fans should be celebrating this is because it protects them from an NCAA NOA against them for the time being.

Your roster, along with everyone else’s, is now free game. For any team, any booster or collective, for any amount of money.

That is not good.
